i watched dr. oz on oprah yesterday and learned something new:
Ask Dr. Oz – Why Do Women Have Memory Loss During/After Pregnancy?:
Dr. Oz called this memory loss “mommy brain” because a developing baby steals its mother’s Omega-3 fats. The female brain also shrinks during pregnancy but rewires quickly and becomes more powerful after pregnancy. To improve short term memory, Dr. Oz suggests women add more Omega-3 fats and get plenty of sleep to help the growth hormones.
so last night after learning this, i ate salmon with a side of spinach, both extremely high in omega 3 fats. take that, you crazy brain that forgets everything these days!

which brings me to this morning, i have some appointments with some clients to take pictures for their ads in the magazine. since i have been super forgetful recently, i made sure that i had everything that levi could possibly need before heading out the door to drop him off at amanda’s while i took pictures. extra diapers – check. formula – check. bib – check. paci – check. extra paci (just in case) – check. i was on a roll. oh yeh, and baby levi – check.
so i take him to amanda’s, tell her when he ate last, when he’ll be tired, etc. etc., then leave to go to my appointments. driving down the highway, i get a phone call from my brother-in-law:
“hey lauren, what are you doing?”
“i’m out taking….. pictures.” and it was then that i realized it: i had left the camera at home. my whole reason for being out and i had forgotten the main ingredient.
so tonight i had some more salmon and spinach.
come back, lauren’s brain, come back.

It’s true! I promise. I found out about this after my first child. (Or, was it second? Third? Can’t remember – hahahaha)
Hope you’re doing well!

PS – “green smoothies” – they are your friend! (I do spinach + frozen berries + banana + water almost every morning)
